Delran PARCC Parent Resource: 2015 Results

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Last Spring the New Jersey Department of Education administered an examination to students in grades 3 through 11 called the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC).  Recently school districts were provided with achievement information and individual student results to share with families.  The District will mail all student results to homes through the United States Postal Service on December 14, 2015.  If you do not receive your child’s results by December 18, 2015 please reach out to your child’s Principal.

Delran Township Public Schools has prepared a resource to allow parents to re-familiarize themselves with the components of PARCC and educate themselves with respect to their child’s results.  The Delran PARCC Parent Resource provides the following information:

  • Sample parent letter for individual student results
  • A short video about how to understand your child’s PARCC score
  • A visual example of what your PARCC score report will look like
  • An interactive website that allows you to use your child’s actual scores and learn how to assist in future educational pursuits
  • A connection to the PARCC official parent website
  • An explanation of PARCC performance levels (they are different from NJASK/HSPA)
  • Testing dates for the 2016 school year
  • PARCC Frequently Asked Questions and BOE assessment policy/regulations
  • An explanation of the Common Core State Standards and what students are asked to do in Math and Language Arts in addition to samples
  • NJDOE website for PARCC and Common Core

It is the intention of the District to educate parents as comprehensively as possible. Please take time to review the Delran PARCC Parent Resource prior to receiving your child’s test scores.  The weeks prior the Winter Break will allow you the opportunity to raise any questions about the results with your child’s Principal and others.  Additionally, in January our schools will host evening events that allow for a greater understanding with respect to your child’s results.
